FAVORITE ASPECT? This was a lot of good food. But I have to pick the pretzels!
COOKING NOTES? 1. Sauerbraten. Kristin made a rump roast marinated for several days and this was a solid dish. The gravy was delish and we ate it with…
2. Spatzle. Homemade by Kris with whole-wheat dough, this was a nice side to have with the roast.
3. German Sausage. We had so much sausage here. Knackwurst, Bratwurst, Weisswurst, and at least two other wursts. Cooked half of them in a beer/caraway/onions mixture and grilled all from there. Served with sauerkraut and Curry-ketchup specifically for these types of sausage, this was a yummy appetizer.
4. German Pretzels. I’ve never tried making pretzels before and am happy with how these came out! The color and shape actually was spot-on and the taste solid too…and with Lisa’s homemade beer cheeses (two of em), plus a spicy mustard, these disappeared quick.
5. German crumb cake. Oli picked this up from a German bakery and this was a fine dessert.
